After surviving a close call against Stony Brook Tuesday night, Kevin Ollie’s UConn Huskies (2-0) are tipping off against BU (0-2) at 6 p.m. in the XL Center.

Unlike the Huskies’ first two opponents, BU is not expected to be much of a competitor in its conference. The Terriers are ranked 244th in the nation by KenPom, comfortably in the bottom-half of the Patriot League.

The Huskies need to start this one fast and furious, leaving no doubt who the better team is in their final tune-up before taking on Oregon to open the PK80. They need to move on from Stony Brook and prove they are a team with upside this season. Another game where they let a lower-tier opponent hang around will not bode well.

Against Stony Brook, Jalen Adams returned to the lineup to make his season debut after serving a one-game suspension. He was scoreless in the first half but put on a show in the second with 19 points in the final 20 minutes. Husky fans should be looking for a more evened-out performance from their star guard.

Terry Larrier looks to continue his solid play for the Huskies upon his return from injury. The junior wing had 27 points in the season and opener and 12 in the second game despite playing just 20 minutes due to foul trouble. UConn will go how he and Adams go this season, and so far that looks like a good thing.

We’ll also get a chance to learn more about the big man rotation. So far we have seen good things from Eric Cobb, David Onuorah, Tyler Polley, Josh Carlton, and Isaiah Whalley. In a game like this, it’d be nice to see all of them get involved in some way, shape, or form.

KenPom projects a 79-64 win for UConn, with a 92 percent chance of victory. We’ll have live updates at each time out here, feel free to share your pregame thoughts and predictions in the comments and stick around to discuss the game!

LIVE UPDATES

1st Half

20:00 - BU wins the tip and we are underway!

15:11 - Poor start for the Huskies, down 8-1, shooting 0-of-7 from the field and 1-of-4 from the free throw line. The offense has been hanging around the perimeter hoping for something good to happen and settling for too many threes, with three misses from deep.

11:57 - Well, UConn hit its first field goal, a Christian Vital three 5:32 into the game. The Huskies trail 11-6 and still aren't’ looking much better. KO is really angry.

7:43 - Terry Larrier’s seven points have helped UConn back into this one, with the Huskies taking a brief lead only to trail 17-16 at this point.

3:50 - Vital has provided a spark for UConn as the Huskies take the lead, 28-24. He has 13 points.

0:00 - It wasn’t a pretty start, but UConn is in control now at least, taking a 39-31 lead into the break. Vital is having his breakthrough performance of the season, with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting with two threes. Larrier is the Huskies’ next-leading scorer with nine points.

2nd Half

20:00 - 2nd half has begun!

15:26 - UConn doing the right thing and starting to pull away thanks to Larrier and a pair of Tyler Polley putbacks. It’s still pretty sloppy, but the Huskies’ athleticism is overwhelming BU. UConn’s on top 48-34.

11:45 - UConn very much in control, now ahead 54-39. Ollie is getting a lot of use from his bench as a lot of the younger guys and backups are playing. Kwintin Williams got his first points as a Husky and Vital is now at a career-high 19 points.

7:51 - UConn 63, BU 44. Everyone is getting in on the action and the Huskies are cruising. Good.

3:45 - UConn 74, BU 57. Vital with 24, Larrier and Antwoine Anderson have 11 each while Jalen Adams and Alterique Gilbert have nine points each.

0:00 - UConn wins 85-66. The start was not good at all but in the end, we got the result we needed. On to Oregon. Vital finished with 30.
