Vivien Beil named AAC women’s soccer POTW

The junior has grabbed her first player of the week honor in the final week of the regular season.

On Monday, the American Athletic Conference released the final weekly awards of the regular season and after UConn’s 3-2 victory over Temple on senior night, Vivien Beil took home player of the week honors.

The junior from Germany scored a pair of goals, including both the game-tying and game-winning tallies, to head into a tie with Kess Elmore for first place on the Huskies in goals with five. She also registered an assist on UConn’s third goal.

Their male counterparts suffered a loss on their senior night, losing 2-1 to Memphis. Nicolas Apostol was named to the five-man honor roll for his goal to open the scoring against the Tigers on Saturday.

The women open The American tournament on Wednesday on the road against Memphis in Orlando on the campus of UCF. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and will be aired on the American Digital Network.

On Saturday, the men play their final regular season game on the road at SMU. The match will commence at 9:30 p.m.
