Confirmed: UConn Football Changing Venue Of Home Game vs BC To Fenway Park

According to Mark Blaudschun, the UConn football team has decided to change the venue of their home game vs Boston College from the Rent to Fenway Park.

In his report, it says that UConn has been guaranteed much more money than a regular home game to move it. BC had declined to move the game against UConn last season to Fenway.

And oh by the way, BC's campus is five miles from Fenway Park.

UPDATE - 7:00 PM

UConn has confirmed the news, adding that the school will receive a $1.125 million guarantee and 22,000 out of the 39,000 tickets which will be made available. BC will receive 7,000 and the Fenway Group will distribute the remaining 10,000. The game will be played on Saturday, November 18.

While it stinks to lose a home game, and play one so close to the "visitors" this move makes sense for UConn financially and also will help prove the school's reach and presence in the area. If this goes successfully, UConn should be able to schedule some marquee opponents at Fenway down the road.
