The UConn women’s soccer team had spent the previous two weeks sitting at No. 23 in the nation but after a 4-1 win over Fordham the Huskies moved up to No. 21 heading into their conference opener. The Huskies wrap up the non-conference slate at 8-2-0.

The only team remaining on the schedule that received any votes in the poll was South Florida. The Bulls sit at No. 15 this week after being ranked No. 17 in last week’s poll. USF will do battle with the Huskies on what will be UConn’s senior day, October 16.

The men also had a successful week, but it did not translate into votes in the coaches’ poll. UConn had a road win against Rhode Island, 2-1, and was victorious in the conference opener over Temple, 1-0. The Huskies currently hold a record of 6-3-0 and next play on Wednesday when they travel to Rhode Island once more for a matchup with the Providence Friars.

Of UConn’s three remaining conference opponents, only one took home any votes in the poll. Boston College, who the Huskies will play at Morrone Stadium on October 18, received nine points, which places them tied for 35th with Stanford.

None of the teams in the American Athletic Conference are among the top-25, but South Florida collected 16 points in the polls, putting them at 33rd in the country.
