American Athletic Conference Media Day kicked off with the release of the preseason media poll. The University of Houston was selected as the runaway favorite to win the championship, taking 27 out of 30 points in the poll.

UConn Football, coming off a 6-7 season in Bob Diaco’s second year, finished fourth in the East Division poll, a healthy amount behind third-place Cincinnati but also solidly ahead of fifth-place East Carolina.

This is an improvement for the Huskies compared to the past two media days, where they were picked to finish last in 2015 and towards the bottom in 2014 as well.
