On Thursday, UConn men’s hockey, along with the seven other Hockey East teams participating in Frozen Fenway next January, were honored in a pregame ceremony at Fenway Park before the final game of the series between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. Coaches and captains were on the field pregame and captain Derek Pratt, a Mount Hermon, Massachusetts native, threw out the first pitch.

Head coach Mike Cavanaugh thinks that this will be a good opportunity for UConn.

"It's a tremendous experience for the players. It's really unique and something they'll always remember," Cavanaugh said.

Pratt also talked about the experience and the publicity for the school.

"It's special. I've been here a handful of times and it's not every day you can say you played at Fenway Park, so it's special," Pratt said. "It's huge publicity for the school and for our hockey program."

UConn and Maine will square off in the second weekend of Frozen Fenway, on January 14, as part of a doubleheader with New Hampshire and Northeastern.
