The first round pairings and bracket for the Maui Invitational were revealed on Tuesday morning. In UConn's fourth appearance in the tournament, the Huskies' half of the bracket includes host Chaminade and last year's national runner-up North Carolina in addition to their first round opponent: Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys are coming off a down year, finishing 12-20 overall and 3-15 in conference after making the NCAA Tournament the previous year in 2014-2015. Their 2015-'16 performance, ending at 180 in RPI and 105 in KenPom, led to a ninth-place finish in the Big 12 and head coach Travis Ford's departure from the program.
Oklahoma State hired Stephen F. Austin head coach Brad Underwood to replace Ford. Underwood takes over a team which is losing three of it's top six scorers from last season.
The game will be broadcast on ESPNU on November 21 with tip-off coming at 9 p.m. eastern time. With a win, UConn would go on to play the winner of North Carolina against Chaminade on November 22. Georgetown, Tennessee, Oregon, and Wisconsin are on the other side of the bracket.
