For week-ending 7/9/16:


Nick Ahmed [Arizona Diamondbacks]:

  • Week: Ahmed had a 2-16 week, slashing .125/.211/.125. While he was not getting results, Ahmed was still putting the ball in play, only striking out twice on the week. He added an RBI, as well.
  • Season: In 83 games, Ahmed has a slash line of .223/.270/.312. He has four home runs and 20 RBI, to go along with 25 runs scored.

John Andreoli [Iowa Cubs - AAA (Chicago Cubs)]:

  • Week: Andreoli slashed .233/.303/.267 in a 7-30 week. He was 3-3 in stolen base attempts and scored three runs. He broke a nine-game hitting streak in the second game of a Thursday doubleheader.
  • Season: Andreoli has hit .236/.358/.414 in 88 games. He is 21-27 in stolen base attempts. He has 11 home runs, 38 RBI and 59 runs scored. He's added 11 doubles and six triples.

Matt Barnes [Boston Red Sox]:

  • Week: Barnes made five appearances for the Red Sox, allowing one run on three hits in 4.67 innings. He added five strikeouts between the five appearances, as well.
  • Season: In 43.0 innings pitched, Matt Barnes has made 35 appearances, all in relief. He has a 2.93 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP and 43 strikeouts against 19 walks.

Carson Cross [State College Spikes - A- Short Season (St. Louis Cardinals)]:

  • Week: Cross pitched on Sunday, allowing four runs, three of which were earned, in 8.0 innings of work. He only allowed five hits, but two of them were home runs. He also had two walks to one strikeout. He started again Saturday, allowing one run on five hits in 6.0 innings of work. He struck out four and walked three.
  • Season: Cross has pitched 30.2 innings in five starts, with a 2-2 record. Batters have hit .280 against him and he has a WHIP of 1.34, as well as an ERA of 3.82. He has 17 strikeouts against eight walks and has hit two batters.

LJ Mazzilli [Binghamton Mets - AA (New York Mets)]:

  • Week: Mazzilli slashed .286/.375/.476 in a 6-20 week. He added two doubles and a triple, as well as three walks. He was also 1-1 on stolen base chances and scored seven runs.
  • Season: In 75 games, Mazzilli has hit .268/.347/.372 with 11 doubles, five triples and 31 RBI. He has worked 33 walks and has scored 40 runs. He is 6-8 stealing bases.

Max McDowell [Wisconsin Timber Rattlers - A (Milwaukee Brewers):

  • Week: In a 3-18 week, McDowell slashed .167/.286/.222. He went 1-4 with a double and a run on Tuesday and added an RBI on Wednesday on a single.
  • Season: In 61 games, McDowell has hit .283/.361/.352. He has 10 RBI and 13 doubles, with 12 stolen bases. He has been caught stealing twice. He was named a Midwest League All-Star starter.

Bobby Melley [Princeton Rays - Rookie (Tampa Bay Rays)]:

  • Week:
  • Season: Melley made his debut on June 23 after signing a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays on June 21. In 14 games, he has slashed .273/.344/.473, hitting two home runs and five doubles to go along with 10 RBI and 10 runs.

Greg Nappo [New Orleans Zephyers - AAA (Miami Marlins)]:

  • Week: Nappo made one appearance, getting 4.1 innings of work in. He allowed one run on three hits, getting four strikeouts while allowing zero walks.
  • Season: In 16 appearances with one start, Nappo has pitched 39.2 innings. He has a WHIP of 1.64 to go along with 25 strikeouts and 23 walks. He has an ERA of 5.22.

Scott Oberg [Albuquerque Isotopes - AAA (Colorado Rockies)]:

  • Week: Oberg appeared in four games this week, pitching 4.0 innings. He did not allow any runs, allowing only one hit, striking out five, while walking five. He was 2-2 in save opportunities
  • Season: In two stints with Albuquerque and two with Colorado, he has pitched in 32 games, nine for Colorado and 23 for Albuquerque. In AAA, he is 7-8 on save opportunities. He has pitched a combined 39.0 innings, allowing 30 hits, walking 14 and striking out 40.

Tyler Olander [Bluefield Blue Jays- Rookie (Toronto Blue Jays)]:

  • Week: Olander has not made an appearance.
  • Season: He was assigned to Bluefield on June 24.

Mike Olt [San Antonio Missions - AAA (San Diego Padres)]:

  • Week: Olt is still on the 7-day disabled list and is eligible to be activated at any time.
  • Season: In 52 games between AAA and AA, Olt hit .253/.369/.398. He has 25 RBI while scoring 25 runs, working 31 walks. He has five home runs on the season.

Patrick Ruotolo [AZL Giants - Rookie/Salem-Keizer - A- Short Season (San Francisco Giants)]:

  • Week: Ruotolo made one appearance for the AZL Giants, throwing 1.0 perfect innings while getting one strikeout. He was promoted to Salem-Keizer on July 7 and made one appearance for them, throwing 2.0 innings, allowing zero runs on two hits. He struck out two and did not walk anyone.
  • Season: Ruotolo made his professional debut on June 22 after signing his minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants on June 17. He has pitched 7.0 innings, allowing five hits and an unearned run. He has struck out nine and has not walked anyone. He was promoted to A- Short Season on July 7.

Vinny Siena [St. Lucie Mets - A+ (New York Mets)]:

  • Week: Siena hit 7-27 this week, slashing .259/.355/.333. He had three RBI, scoring two more runs. He added two doubles, as well.
  • Season: Siena has played in 80 games between A and A+, hitting .280/.419/.373. He has 59 runs, four triples and 19 RBI to go along with 18 doubles and 60 walks. He is 9-10 on stolen base attempts. He was named a South Atlantic League All-Star starter.

George Springer [Houston Astros]:

  • Week: Springer had a 7-22 week, slashing .318/.423/.727. He scored four runs and had three RBI while adding a double, triple and two home runs. He has an eight-game hitting streak snapped on Friday.
  • Season: In 88 games, Springer is hitting .263/.361/.477 with 19 home runs and 51 RBI. He has scored 63 runs, hitting 12 doubles to go along with three triples. He finished second in the AL All-Star final vote.

Jack Sundberg [Auburn Doubledays - A- Short Season (Washington Nationals)]:

  • Week: Sundberg did not make an appearance in Rookie League before being promoted to A- Short Season on July 5. He hit 2-6, slashing .333/.286/.333. He added a sacrifice fly.
  • Season: Sundberg made his professional debut on June 24 after signing a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals on June 20. He has slashed .273/.375/.424 in eight games between the GCL Nationals and the Auburn Doubledays. He is 3-4 on stolen base attempts. He was promoted to A- Short Season on July 5.

Women's Basketball

Sue Bird [Seattle Storm]:

  • Week: In 1-2 week, averaged 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 7 assists.
  • Season: In 19 games, is averaging 12.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists.

Swin Cash [New York Liberty]:

  • Week: In 2-1 week, averaged 4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
  • Season: In 17 games, is averaging 5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds.

Tina Charles [New York Liberty]:

  • Week: In three games, averaged 24.7 points, 8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
  • Season: In 19 games, is averaging 23.1 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Stefanie Dolson [Washington Mystics]:

  • Week: Had 9 points and 7 rebounds in a loss to San Antonio.
  • Season: In 19 games, is averaging 8.3 points and 5.0 rebounds.

  • Week: Had 3 points and 3 assists in win over Minnesota.
  • Season: In 17 games, is averaging 2.5 points and 1.1 rebounds.

  • Week: Had 5 points and four rebounds in only game of the week.

  • Week: In a 2-1 week, averaged 22.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists.

  • Week: Had three shots (2 on goal) and an assist in 2-1 win over Tulsa. Had one shot (on goal) in a 0-0 tie with OKC Energy
  • Season: In 16 games, had one goal and four assists with 34 shots (17 on goal).

Andre Blake [Philadelphia Union - MLS]:

  • Week: Picked up the win a 3-0 win over D.C. United with three saves. Was named to the MLS All-Star team.
  • Season: In 18 games, is 7-6-5 with four shutouts with a goals against average of 1.33 and 69.1 save percentage.

Tony Cascio [Arizona United SC - USL]:

  • Week: Played just one minute in a 1-1 tie with Swope Park Rangers.
  • Season: In 10 games, has two assists with five shots.

George Fochive [Viborg FF - Danish Superliga]:

  • Week: Superliga action begins again on July 15.
  • Season: He's made six appearances (three starts) and has not scored.

Julius James [Ft. Lauderdale Strikers - NASL]:

  • Week: No games scheduled.
  • Season: In six games has one shot

Josh Ford [San Antonio FC - USL]:

  • Week: Picked up a win over Tulsa after allowing just one goal with three saves. Didn't allow a goal in 0-0 tie with OKC Energy with one save.
