The Huskies are coming off a successful second season as members of Hockey East, finishing eighth in the conference and earning the opportunity to host the first round of the conference tournament. Despite being swept by the Vermont Catamounts in the Hockey East Tournament, the mere fact the XL Center played host to postseason hockey is enough to leave supporters optimistic of the future.
UConn recently released dates and opponents for all 14 home contests played at the XL Center. Season tickets are available now at very affordable rates.
The home schedule begins on October 7th and 8th, when the Chargers of Alabama-Huntsville will pay a visit to Hartford. The Huskies split a season-opening series with the Chargers last year.
Hockey East play opens in Hartford on November 18th as the Boston University Terriers visit town. Last season the Huskies topped No. 7 BU 5-2 in one of the best wins of the season.
Our favorite school to hate Boston College makes the trek to Hartford on November 22nd. Whenever Boston College visits it’s always a huge contest that energizes the XL Center crowd. Last season the Huskies lost at home but tied on the road in two games against the Eagles. Two seasons ago the Huskies notched a 1-0 win over BC at home in their first-ever Hockey East game.
Non-conference play in Hartford concludes on January 7th, when the Yale Bulldogs take the short trip from New Haven. Yale is oldest collegiate hockey team in the United States, and won the NCAA Tournament Championship three years ago with a shutout win over Quinnipiac.
