UConn Huskies in the Pros - 5/29/16

For the week ending 5/28/16:


Nick Ahmed [Arizona Diamondbacks]:

  • Week: He hit 5-17 (.357) on the week. On Sunday, he hit 2-4 with a double, scoring two runs.
  • Season: In 48 games, Ahmed has a slash line of .208/.270/.308. He has three home runs and 15 RBI, to go along with 16 runs scored.

John Andreoli [Iowa Cubs - AAA (Chicago Cubs)]:

  • Week: Andreoli hit 5-21 (.238), while working three walks, including two on Thursday. He went 2-4 with a solo home run on Saturday.
  • Season: Andreoli has hit .214/.320/.357 in 45 games. He has 10 stolen bases, while only being caught twice. He has six home runs, 20 RBI and 26 runs scored.

Matt Barnes [Boston Red Sox]:

  • Week: Barnes pitched in four games for the Red Sox, both in relief. He threw 3.0 no-hit innings, only allowing three walks while hitting a batter. He registered two holds and had five strikeouts in one appearance against the Indians and one against the Rockies.
  • Season: In 24.0 innings pitched, Matt Barnes has made 21 appearances, all in relief. He has a 2.63 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP and 23 strikeouts against 14 walks.

Carson Cross [State College Spikes - A (St. Louis Cardinals)]:

  • Week: N/A
  • Season: Season gets underway on June 17.

LJ Mazzilli [Binghamton Mets - AA (New York Mets)]:

  • Week: Mazzilli hit 7-14 (.500), with two multi-hit games, one on Monday and one on Wednesday. He struck out only twice and had two RBI on the week.
  • Season: In 43 games, Mazzilli has hit .248/.337/.317 with six doubles, two triples and 13 RBI. He has worked 20 walks and has scored 18 runs.

Max McDowell [Wisconsin Timber Rattlers - A (Milwaukee Brewers):

  • Week: McDowell went 3-18 (.167) with two walks and a hit by pitch. He went 2-4 on Wednesday, with two RBI and two runs scored.
  • Season: In 35 games, McDowell has hit .278/.357/.349. He has six RBI and seven doubles, with eight stolen bases. He has yet to be caught stealing.

Greg Nappo [New Orleans Zephyers - AAA (Miami Marlins)]:

  • Week: Nappo did not appear in a game this week.
  • Season: In eight appearances, he has pitched 17.0 innings. He has a WHIP of 1.82 to go along with nine strikeouts. He has an ERA of 5.82.

Scott Oberg [Albuquerque Isotopes - AAA (Colorado Rockies)]:

  • Week: Oberg appeared in two games, throwing an inning of no-hit relief, allowing a walk in his first outing against Omaha. He had another inning of relief against Iowa, allowing an earned run on one hit and one hit batsman.
  • Season: In two stints with Albuquerque and one with Colorado, he has pitched in 16 games, eight for each team. In AAA, he is 2/2 on save opportunities. He has pitched a combined 21 innings, allowing 20 hits and 11 runs.

Tyler Olander [Toronto Blue Jays]:

  • Week: N/A
  • Season: Currently in extended spring training

Mike Olt [San Antonio Missions - AA (San Diego Padres)]:

  • Week: Olt went 4-17 (.235), but earned six walks and struck out only three times. Olt added a solo home run, in addition to a 2-4 day on Friday.
  • Season: In 45 games between AAA and AA, Olt hit .257/.382/.414. He has 23 RBI while scoring 22 runs, working 29 walks. He has five home runs on the season.

Vinny Siena [Columbia Fireflies - A (New York Mets)]:

  • Week: Siena hit 9-26 (.346) with multi-hit games on Tuesday and Wednesday. He has two doubles and scored 10 runs, scoring in every game this week, except for Saturday.
  • Season: Siena has played in 48 games, hitting .319/.451/.419, leading the South Atlantic League in on-base percentage by a wide margin. He is also in the top 10 in batting average. He has 12 RBI, two triples and 11 RBI. He has scored 41 runs.

George Springer [Houston Astros]:

  • Week: Springer had a bounce-back week, hitting 9-23 (.391), hitting two solo home runs on Thursday. He also went 3-4 with a double and two walks on Tuesday, in addition to a 3-5 day Saturday. He had a double and a run scored.
  • Season: In 50 games, Springer is hitting .274/.364/.492 with 11 home runs and 28 RBI. He has scored 30 runs, hitting eight doubles to go along with a triple.


Sue Bird [Seattle Storm]:

  • Week: In 3 games, Bird averaged 35.3 minutes, 13.7 points, 2.67 rebounds and 6.3 assists.
  • Season: In 5 games, she is averaging 12 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists in 33.6 minutes per game.

Swin Cash [New York Liberty]:

  • Week: Cash was re--signed by the Liberty on May 24. She had 6 points, 2 rebounds and assist in her debut.
  • Season: In one game, she is averaging 6 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist in 14 minutes.

Tina Charles [New York Liberty]:

  • Week: In one game, Charles had a double-double with 29 points and 10 rebounds along with 6 assists and 7 steals.
  • Season: In 4 games, Charles is averaging 23.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists in 35.5 minutes per game.

Stefanie Dolson [Washington Mystics]:

  • Week: In two games, Dolson averaged 10 points and 5.5 rebounds.
  • Season: On the season, Dolson is averaging 8.7 points, 4.7 rebounds in six games.

  • Week: Didn't register a point in a 1-0 win.
  • Season: He's made six appearances, three starts, and has not scored.

Josh Ford [San Antonio FC - USL]:

  • Week: Ford picked up a tie after making six saves against Rio Grande Valley FC.
  • Season: In 9 games, he is 2-3-4 with a 79.4% save percentage and a goals against average of 0.78.

Cyle Larin [Orlando City SC - MLS]:

  • Week: He had a goal in his lone game against the Philadelphia Union.
  • Season: In 11 games, Larin has seven goals and two assists.

Women's Soccer

Brittany Taylor [FC Kansas City]:

  • Week: In her only game, Taylor didn't register any stats in her 90 minutes of play.
  • Season: In 7 games (all starts), Taylor has four shots on goal.
