2016 UConn Football Recruiting: A Pair of Specialists Officially Sign

The Huskies add special teams depth by getting commitments from two specialists

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Whether it be the "Unfair Catch" or Dave Teggart's leg sending the Huskies to a BCS Bowl, special teams have played an important role in UConn's short history at the FBS level. While specialists aren't the sexiest recruits, they're still important to the success of a program.

Two specialists were among the first two to officially sign with UConn Football. Here's a little bit more about them:

P Brett Graham

UConn Football fans have probably seen more of the punter more than they would prefer. Nevertheless, it's important to have some depth at the position as being undermanned could cost a team a game.

Enter Brett Graham, hailing from State College HS in State College, PA where he played punter, tight end, and linebacker. In his high school career, he punted the ball 90 times for an average of 35.5 yards per punt. His longest punt came during his junior year when he booted a 60-yarder.

Graham currently projects as next in line after an opportunity to develop for a year, with rising senior Justin Wain the only other punter on the roster.

Below are Graham's punting highlights:

LS Nick Zecchino

Nick Zecchino could be the man to snap the ball Brett Graham. The long snapper from Cedar Grove, New Jersey had interest from Boston College, Miami and Rutgers before choosing UCon. Zecchino will join rising sophomore James Bedell as the only other long snapper on the roster.
