Live Updates: UConn Men’s Hockey vs. Alabama-Huntsville

UConn gets it underway tonight for real. They were served a loss in their exhibition game against St. Francis Xavier but look to bounce back.

Third Period

10:00- the pace of play has slowed considerably. Only six shots between the two teams, after seeing a combined 41 through the first two periods. Still a 5-0 scoreline.

11:17- Alabama gets a major and game misconduct for hitting behind. It was committed by Brennan Sauliner.

16:47- and one more for good measure. Evan Richardson nets his second to make it 6-0.

Second Period

1:25- Newpower off for tripping early in the period.

7:04- Evan Richardson shoves a rebound home from Johnny Austin and now it’s 4-0 Huskies.

9:47- Tage Thompson nets his second of the night, getting one just under the bar. 5-0 UConn.

15:38- things have settled down, but UConn has five goals on 17 shots and Huntsville has zero goals on 14 shots.

20:00- the Huskies have dominated this matchup. It’s 5-0 and Rob Nichols has not had to make very many good saves so far.

First period

6:14- UConn will have 1:28 of 5-on-3 time after two quick Huntsville penalties. The Huskies have dominated so far but have not scored as of yet.

6:50- goal UConn! Freshman Wyatt Newpower takes the feed from Tage Thompson and puts it through. Huskies still on the power play.

8:56- another one. Joona Kunnas sent the puck in from the left point and it gets past Matt LaRose for a 2-0 Huskies lead.

19:24- Karl El-Mir takes feeds from Tage Thompson and Maxim Letunov on the power play to push one in on the doorstep for a 3-0 Huskies lead.

20:00- the final buzzer sounds and #icebus has been dominating so far. Up 11-5 in shots and are 2-for-4 on the power play. Alabama-Huntsville beat No. 20 Ferris State twice on the road last weekend but they do not look it.
