UConn women’s soccer earned six valuable points in two conference matches this week. The Huskies beat USF on Senior Day Sunday, 3-1 and took the win over UCF on Thursday evening, a 3-0 shut out victory.
So it should come as no surprise they had some weekly award winners this week.
Steph Ribeiro scored three goals and added three assists between the two matches this week and was named offensive player of the week. Ribeiro has eight game-winning goals, which leads the nation. She is also tied for first in goals, with 15 on the year.
Rachel Hill and Emily Armstrong were each named to the honor roll, as well.
Hill scored one goal in each of the Huskies’ matches against the directional Florida schools and had an assist on Ribeiro’s game-winning goal against USF.
Armstrong had 13 saves between the two matches and recorded her seventh shut-out of the season against UCF.
Men’s hockey drew twice on the weekend, 4-4 with Colgate and 1-1 against RIT, and had one Hockey East top performer.
Freshman Adam Huska was given the honor after making his debut for the Huskies against RIT. He saved 36 of the 37 shots he faced on Saturday evening on the road.
One Husky took home a weekly honor, Abdou Mbacke Thiam, who was on the honor roll after notching the game-winner against Yale.
