We're just a few minutes away from tip-off here at the XL Center as the UConn Huskies get ready to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats. We know it's always a dogfight when these two teams meet and tonight should be no different.
Mick Cronin's Bearcats have won four of their last five and are currently ranked 33rd in the nation in KenPom overall efficiency. Their projections have UConn, ranked 30th nationally, as a 4-point favorite tonight at home.
The Huskies have also won four of their last five and three straight. Tonight presents a ripe opportunity to add another quality win to the NCAA Tournament resumé. Some bracketologists have UConn out of the field right now, though others, including our very own, have them just in the field. Either way it would be better for Kevin Ollie's squad to solidify its position at home in front of a rowdy crowd in Hartford.
Kevin Ollie has been mixing up the starting lineup lately, getting Jalen Adams and Omar Calhoun in there for Rodney Purvis. Despite playing off the bench, Purvis still put in good minutes and had a solid outing against Georgetown. We'll see how Ollie manages his personnel today. All we do know is that anything is possible. Even lots of minutes for Phil "The Thrill" Nolan.
