Playing fantasy football only using players from the NFL is getting old. In 2015, The UConn Blog is giving fantasy football a college football twist.

Eight men—seven from The UConn Blog and one from USF's SB Nation site Voodoo Five—faced the ultimate test Wednesday night, on the eve of the 2015 college football season: drafting a fantasy college football team using only players from the American Athletic Conference.

Thursday not only begins the 2015 college football season, it begins the inaugural UConn Blog American Athletic Conference Fantasy Football League season.

Each team has eight players: one quarterback, one running back, two wide receivers, one tight end, one flex (running back, wide receiver or tight end), one kicker and a team defense/special teams. Instead of head-to-head match-ups, overall points will be tracked throughout the season. The writer with the most points wins.

The scoring system is basically the same as ESPN's standard scoring, with points per reception (PPR) implemented.

The seven writers from The UConn Blog are Aman Kidwai, Tim Fontenault, Dan Madigan, Mark Corey, Dan Connolly, Ben Zachs and Mike Levin. Voodoo Five's Ryan Smith carries the torch for the rest of the conference.

After eight grueling rounds of drafting, the dust settled, and these are the eight teams that will compete for the inaugural league championship.

Wednesday night's draft was a challenge, as writers dug deep to find the potential breakout players in the third year of the American Athletic Conference. Below are the results of the draft. Scoring begins Thursday, as UConn, UCF and Tulane kick off their seasons against Villanova, Florida International and Duke, respectively.
