NCAA bans SMU from 2016 postseason, Larry Brown for 30 percent of games

The NCAA finally came down on SMU, and it flexed its muscles in doing so. This is a painful blow to the Mustangs. The reigning American Athletic Conference champions were set to be a top-20 program and the favorite to repeat in the American this season. Led by Nic Moore, SMU is still going to be a good basketball team this year, but with the Mustangs out of the postseason picture, UConn is the clear favorite to claim the American title that has eluded it in the conference's first two seasons. The games between UConn and SMU on Feb. 18 and March 3 will still be must-watch showdowns in the conference this season.
