Navy - W 45-21 over ECU
Keenan Reynolds ran for 5 touchdowns in a game that wasn't close by the second quarter, leading Navy's offense to a touchdown on all four of its first possessions. Reynolds and fullback Chris Swain both rushed for over 100 yards against a solid ECU rush defense.
ECU, also a future opponent of UConn's, didn't have an answer for Reynolds and Navy's triple-option attack. Quarterback Blake Kemp threw for 325 yards and 3 touchdowns, but the game was never within two touchdowns. Junior receiver Isaiah Jones caught 10 passes for 130 yards and leads the team in receiving yards on the season.
BYU - L to UCLA, 23-22
BYU intercepted Bruins true freshman quarterback Josh Rosen three times, but couldn't hold on to the lead at the end of the game. Cougars quarterback Tanner Magnum threw the ball 47 times, completing 30 for 244 yards, one touchdown and one interception. This could be the toughest team on UConn's schedule.
UCF - L to Furman, 16-15
Apparently George O'Leary hated the idea of the #conFLiCT so much he decided to tank UCF's season so the rivalry game would lose its juice.
USF - L to Maryland, 35-17
UConn's homecoming visitor had their hands full with Maryland, allowing Terrapins quarterback Caleb Rowe to throw for 4 touchdowns and almost 300 yards. The Bulls are 1-2 and looking for their first FBS win. They play Memphis and then Syracuse before making the trip to PAWS ARF October 17.
Cinci - W over Miami (OH), 37-33
Continue to be encouraged by the fact that the supposed leaders for the AAC-East race are not looking as dominant as expected.
Tulane- W over Maine, 38-7
Tulane picked up their first win of the season against an FCS team. "WE WANT UCF!" the Green Wave faithful could be heard yelling from the stands.
Houston - BYE
Temple - W over UMass, 25-23
Thought to be a potential contender in the AAC-East after destroying Penn State and beating Cincinnati, Temple barely made it past UMass, needing a field goal with less than a minute remaining to move ahead for the win. Is this a case of UMass being better than expected or Temple being worse?
