Wenyen Gabriel is getting closer to making his college decision, and UConn is still in the mix.
Gabriel, a 6-foot-9-inch forward from Manchester, New Hampshire, cut his list to five Wednesday, according to Rivals recruiting insider Eric Bossi. The Huskies are still on the list, along with Providence, Kentucky, Duke and Maryland.
The Wilbraham and Monson standout has been generating plenty of interest. Kansas, North Carolina, Virginia, Notre Dame and St. John's are among the schools that offered but did not make the final cut.
According to Bossi, Gabriel will visit Duke, Kentucky and Maryland. He has made two visits to UConn already, according to the Hartford Courant.
Gabriel would be a great addition to Kevin Ollie's 2016 class, which already includes Mamadou Diarra, Alterique Gilbert and VCU transfer Terry Larrier.
