Two former national champions with the UConn Huskies will be participating in this summer's The Basketball Tournament- a national offseason event filled with former college stars which will be televised on ESPN.
Both Roscoe Smith and Lasan Kromah have officially joined the roster for Team City of Gods, where they will join former Georgetown star Michael Sweetney, Demarr Johnson, formerly of Cincinnati, and George Washington's Pops Mensah-Bonsu.
Last time we saw Roscoe, he was transferring before the 2013 season where UConn was banned from post-season play. Because he was a junior, though, he still had to sit out a year. The former Oak Hill Academy star played one season at UNLV before declaring for the NBA Draft in 2014. Unfortunately, he went undrafted and has been playing with the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA D-League since.
Lasan Kromah took his talents to Hungary after helping UConn win the 2014 national championship. He signed with a Turkish league team about a week ago for this coming season.
The two will be joined by former UConn players Josh Boone, Ater Majok and Jerome Dyson, who are playing on other teams in the field. There was an effort to create a UConn Alumni team which unfortunately fell short. I'm pleased to share that I will be part of the group trying to make it happen next year!
Tournament play begins on Friday, July 10.
GO FORMER HUSKIES!
