Want to feel old? Khalid El-Amin's son, you may call him Ishmael, is already looking ahead to what college he plans on attending. Ishmael, class of 2017, recently sat down for an interview to discuss his plans.
Connecticut born, Ishmael described his recruitment as having gotten off to a slow start, but noted it has picked up since he became involved with the Under Armour circuit. He said UConn, Wisconsin, St. John's, Illinois Georgetown, Arizona, Providence and Northern Iowa have shown interest.
Of course, after Khalid helped lead the Huskies to a championship in 1999, he embarked on a professional career. He never quite stuck in the NBA. Instead, he's developed a nice career overseas. Ishmael discussed how he spent part of his childhood in Turkey and Ukraine with his dad.
All in all, this was a fun interview that a UConn favorite son gave. In fact, he discussed how if he were to receive an offer from the Huskies, it would be "a dream come true. UConn is my favorite school." Check it out.
