Mike Anthony of the Hartford Courant dropped some exciting news about UConn's early schedule for its second season in Hockey East. Arizona State is in the process of transitioning to Division I from club hockey. The Sun Devils will play a mix of Division I and club teams in 2015-16, followed by a season as a Division I independent in 2016-17. They will join either the NCHC or the WCHA the following year. As for Hockey East, UConn's conference schedule will not be announced for some time. However, both of the Huskies' games against Notre Dame will be at home. UConn will not make the menacing home-and-home trek with the Irish for another decade. To balance out away games, UConn will play both games against Boston University at Agganis Arena. UConn will bring in a talented freshmen class for its sophomore year in Hockey East. Highlighting the expected class are Tage Thompson, a standout in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program, and Ottawa Senators draft pick Miles Gendron.
