UConn's Breanna Stewart Named 2015 AAC Player of the Year

UConn sweeps The American Athletic Conference's major awards.

On Friday afternoon, the American Athletic Conference announced their award winners. UConn took home the most hardware. Breanna Stewart was named the Player of the Year for the second straight year. Kia Nurse was the Freshman of the Year, while senior Kiah Stokes was the Defensive Player of the Year. Junior Moriah Jefferson was the Most Improved Player and freshman Gabby Williams was the Co-Sixth Player of the Year. Geno Auriemma won Coach of the Year honors.

Seven UConn players were named All-Conference Performers. Stewart was joined by Jefferson, Morgan Tuck and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis as All-Conference First Team members. Stokes was named to the Second Team, while Nurse was on the Third Team. In addition, Nurse and Williams were both apart of the All-Freshmen Team.
