Somehow, some way, this UConn team keeps finding a way to win.
Things were looking very, very bleak for the Huskies as the second half started to wind down. Down by 10 with 6:35 left, and only 28 points scored, it was looking like an unfortunate end to UConn's season was eminent.
But Ryan Boatright wasn't about to let that happen. His three-pointer with 1:44 left in the game tied it at 41, then the Huskies found a way to grab the win thanks to lockdown defense and timely foul shooting.
This UConn team looked absolutely gassed at times in this one, but kept giving 100% and miraculously found a way to win. Boatright finished with 21 points and six rebounds. He was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line and shot 55% (5-9) from 3-pt range. Rodney Purvis was the only other Husky in double digits with 11. His three-pointer cut the ten point lead to seven and sparked UConn's run.
As has been the case all season, the offense struggled mightily in this one. But the defense bailed us out and the Huskies are moving on to face SMU in the AAC Tournament Final.
We'll have more after the post-game press conference, stay tuned!
GO HUSKIES!!!
