Delaware LB Connor Freeborn officially signs with UConn Huskies

Freeborn, a promising linebacker prospect, may end up at tight end depending on how things shake out.

Connor Freeborn, a linebacker from Wilmington, Delaware, has officially signed his Letter of Intent to play for Bob Diaco and the UConn Huskies.  Rated as a two-star recruit according to Rivals and three-star according to ESPN, Freeborn has the potential to be a very good college player.  He has a bigger frame with great instincts, and once he puts on some more muscle and gains more experience, he could become a force at the linebacker position for the Huskies.

Freeborn, who was a commit to Navy for lacrosse, is extremely excited to play for the Huskies and seems like the type of guy that we will continue to see Diaco recruit.  Here's what he had to say about joining the UConn family.

1. What position(s) did you play in high school and what are you planning on playing at UConn?

The position I played in high school was outside linebacker. I am recruited as an outside linebacker, but they told me I could play tight end if they need me there. I am willing to play any position to help my team succeed.

2. What made you choose UConn over the other options you had?

Throughout my life it has always been academics first, athletics second. The business school at UConn is very successful, and that played a huge role in my decision. Also, the campus is the perfect size for me. Finally, coach Diaco and his staff are not only great coaches, but they are amazing people. They constantly check in on me and see how I am doing, and that means a lot. All of us in my class want to be a part of this family and get it back to being a successful program.

3. Favorite workout pump-up song right now?

My favorite workout pump-up song right now has to be Steve Aoki "Boneless". Something about it just fires me up and helps me get that extra rep in.

4. What are your goals for yourself and the team during your time at UConn?

One of my main goals during my time at UConn is to develop friendships that will last a lifetime. Also, my goal is to get UConn back to where it was a few years ago and to win some bowl games. My goal is to get better each day, and develop as a player and a person.

5. What are you most excited for this coming fall?

The thing I am most excited about is to wear that UConn across my chest. I am excited to represent my school, my community and most importantly my family. I am very excited to be a Husky, and to join the family.

6. Anything else you would like to add?

I would just like to thank all the people who have inspired me throughout my life. First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with such an amazing family and support group. Also, I would like to thank all of the coaches throughout my life, especially my high school coaches for making me the player I am today. I would like to thank Titus Sports Academy for training me these past 5 years, and preparing me for every obstacle I will face. Last, but not least, I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting every decision I have made throughout my life. Go Huskies!!
