Big 12 Commissioner Bowlsby Hints at Conference Expansion

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby told ESPN today that he believes the conference will be forced to add two members in order to have a championship game.

The Big 12 wants to have a conference championship game, and appealed to the NCAA to have one without expanding to 12 as required by the rules. It appears the appeal will be denied, which could lead to another round of expansion and, yes, conference realignment. The vote will take place at the NCAA convention between January 13-16 in San Antonio, Texas.

Before the season started, Oklahoma's athletic director revealed that the Big 12 would not have to share the money in its TV deal if it expanded. Each team will make the same amount of money regardless.

Though this is obviously at a very early stage, there are movements which are making it appear as though the Big 12 will expand soon. Could UConn be a candidate?
