National Signing Day Open Thread

Bob Diaco is expected to add somewhere between 16-18 student-athletes to his football team today. The highest ranked recruits are all rated 3 stars by Rivals: ATH Vontae Diggs- a Bowling Green flip, RB Arkeel Newsome- a Parade All-American and TE Luke Carrezola. The last two were commitments to Pasqualoni who Diaco was able to hold onto.

Diaco hasn't had a whole lot of time to put his mark on the recruiting class, but since his appointment he has been able to add a decent amount of players who can bring something to the table for the Huskies. Vontae Diggs is the most notable, but the others: ATH Anthony Watkins, DL Sheridan Lawley, DE James Atkins, OL Ryan Crozier, RB Ron Johnson and OL Steve Hashemi will warrant special attention in the coming years as the first guys Diaco added to the program.

Given the transformation Diaco is planning on making with his defensive philosophy, it will be interesting to see how this plays out with some of the DL who committed to PP that are still coming to Storrs. If they can play I'm sure Diaco will find a spot for them.

UConn's offense should be adding some serious weapons in the form of Ansonia stud RB Arkeel Newsome and former Louisville commit Ron Johnson. Tight End will also see an influx of talent from the aforementioned Carrezola and 6-foot-7 Alec Bloom- who I believe has already signed his LOI according to Rivals.

We'll be doing our best to cover all the action here, and hopefully Bob Diaco has a few surprises up his sleeve. Either way this will be a good day for UConn Football and another step in the right direction.
