UConn Dominates Central CT State, 81-48

The Huskies improve to 7-5 on the season

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

Hartford, CT-- The UConn Huskies came out to play this afternoon. Their 81-48 victory extends their winning streak against Central to 13 games in a row. UConn improves to 7-5 on the season, and with conference play set to begin on Wednesday, they have built some momentum going forward.

For the first time all season, it looks like UConn finally has found the rotation they want. Today, it all came together in a special way. Rodney Purvis and Ryan Boatright combined for 30 points. Freshman Daniel Hamilton continued to impress in his all around game. Off the bench, UConn got a nice boost from Omar Calhoun, who added 11 points in 20 minutes.

Out of the front court, Amida Brimah and Kentan Facey exploited their size advantage all afternoon. Facey in particular stood out. He may never lead the team in scoring, but his contributions are limitless.

This was a thorough dominating effort from the Huskies, on both sides of the ball. From the 10;04 mark of the first half to the 11:16 mark in the second, UConn went on a 39-10 run. Central struggled against UConn's athleticism and length, and simply had no answer for the half court press the Huskies utilized for much of the afternoon.
