Rapid Recap: Huskies fall to No. 3 BU at home, 5-2

The Huskies scored two quick goals to get within one, but ultimately the upset comeback bid fell just short.

BU was the better team for most of the first two periods and the trend continued as the Terriers notched a third goal to build a seemingly insurmountable 3-0 lead. Nick Roberto's skate knocked the puck in after a shot from Chase Phelphs 2:37 into the final period.

Undeterred, the Huskies mounted something of a comeback-- scoring two quick goals within one minute of each other. The first came off the stick of senior Cody Sharib, who put in a rebound off a Shawn Pauly shot. 57 seconds later, the Huskies pulled within a goal after freshman Corey Ronan, whose father played at BU, beat goalie Mike O'Connor gloveside.

Despite having a few chances to tie it up, the Huskies' hopes were dashed a Jack Eichel breakaway led to a goal by Danny O'Regan off the rebound. Nichols made a great save on the initial attempt, but was not able to stop O'Regan's follow up.

The Huskies proved their mettle tonight against one of the best teams in the country. Despite falling early, they kept their effort high and were able to make it a game at the end. BU's fifth goal came on an empty-netter.

Mike Cavanaugh's squad finishes a three-game home stand against RPI, No. 11 Vermont and No. 3 BU with a 1-1-1 record. They are now 3-6-4, with their next game coming Saturday, November 29th at Brown.
