Mike Cavanaugh and the UConn Men's Hockey team will finish up a three-game home stand against Boston University. They opened the week with a 2-2 tie against RPI and followed it up with a 2-1 win over No. 11 Vermont.
BU is one of the best teams in the country, and right now best known for the American-born star Jack Eichel-- who is expected to be a Top 3 pick in the NHL Draft next year. UConn recently visited the Terriers on November 8th in a game which ended in a 4-4 tie-- a very impressive result and one of only two times this season BU has left the ice without a win.
This will be the third game in the history of this series, which BU currently leads 1-0-1. The first game was a 4-1 win by the Terriers in a non-conference match-up. According to the Hartford Courant's Mike Anthony, the XL Center is expecting over 7,000 in attendance this afternoon. The Huskies have been averaging 5,680 fans per game at their home away from home in Hartford.
We'll be doing period-by-period updates and updating the open thread with goal updates. You should also follow our hockey correspondent (and Daily Campus senior contributor) Tim Fontenault, who will be live tweeting.
