AAC Picks of the Day

Mike Levin takes you through his picks for the day in AAC play.

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Louisiana Tech (1-0) at Temple (1-0)

The Bulldogs were 29-8 overall last year, going 10-5 on the road and 5-2 in neutral site games. Temple was just terrible last year, going 9-22.

Pick: Louisiana Tech -5

Wake Forest (1-0) at Tulane (0-0)

Wake Forest finished last year 17-12, but were 2-3 in neutral site games and 1-9 on the road. Tulane lost by 15 last year in Winston-Salem last year. Wake Forest is 5-16 against the spread (ATS) over their last 21 road games and 3-10 ATS in the last 13 overall. Tulane is 7-2 ATS in the last nine against the ACC.

Pick: Tulane +2.5

Louisiana-Lafayette (1-0) at Tulsa (0-1)

The Ragin-Cajuns finished last year 23-12 overall, but were 6-9 on the road and 4-1 on a neutral court. Tulsa was 21-13 overall last year, going 6-7 on the road and 4-3 in neutral site games. This game is at Tulsa. The three losses for Tulsa were to Oral Roberts - who they lost to again this year - Wichita State and Alabama-Birmingham. Two of those three losses came in the first three games. Tulsa was also the third best team ATS going 22-9.

Pick: Tulsa -8

#22 Southern Methodist (1-0) at #13 Gonzaga (1-0)

The Mustangs finished last year 27-10. They lost by more than nine points only twice - when the Mustangs hosted Louisville they lost by 13 and when they played at Arkansas the Mustangs lost by 11. In the games, four of the 10 losses more than 142 points were scored. Only six of their wins went over 142. SMU will want to try and slow the pace down. Gonzaga is trying to be the first mid-major to win the National Championship since University of Connecticut did it....last year! Gonzaga is a great team, but with this being the first game of the year - or maybe I have become an American Conference homer (I don't think that can be a thing), I will go with

Pick: SMU +9
Pick: Under 142
