Hergy Mayala, a 6-foot-1, 200 pound dynamo, officially committed to UConn yesterday. He currently plays for Trinity Pawling high school in Pawling, New York. He is most likely to play wide receiver for the Huskies next year.
Mayala also had offers from Buffalo, Old Dominion, and Rutgers. There was also interest from a number of others, including Boston College, Wisconsin, and UMass. Mayala has some impressive physical attributes, as he has been timed running a 4.59 40-yard dash, and a 4.28 shuttle. There is a chance Mayala could play safety for the Huskies, the defensive position he plays in high school. Either way it appears he will have an opportunity to play early.
With this commitment and the commitment from Beals the coaches really are adding some quickness and playmaking ability to the team with the new recruiting class.
GO HUSKIES!!
