With football on a bye and spirits as low as possible, we thought this would be a good week to talk UConn Hockey. I am very pleased to share that we will be providing full coverage of the Men's team this year led by Sam Marshall, season-ticket holder and former Daily Campus dude.

Joining Hockey East provides an exciting opportunity for UConn to play against some of the toughest competition in college hockey and eventually (hopefully) become nationally relevant themselves. All of the pieces appear to be in place, with the team attracting top level talent thanks to the approach and recruiting prowess of head coach Mike Cavanaugh and his staff.

2013 was an exciting season for UConn Men's Hockey in their last year as members of Atlantic Hockey. They look to build on that this year with a schedule that will include highly-regarded teams such as Boston College, UMass, Notre Dame, Providence and the defending national champions from Union- who will be on the docket for the Frozen Holiday Classic in Bridgeport.

Thanks to Will Moran for joining Brenner and myself in the fourth installment of our podcast. Enjoy!

The first puck will drop this Sunday when Dalhousie University will visit the Freitas Ice Forum for the first exhibition game of the season. Regular season play begins on Friday, October 10th with a 2-game series at Penn State.

Also, regarding our conversation about the hockey facilities, A Dime Back's Meghan Bard recently tweeted:

The plot thickens.
