UConn Releases its 2013-14 Men's Basketball Schedule

Highlights include home matchup against Florida and two huge games against Louisville.

Andy Lyons

The UConn men's basketball team's 2013-14 schedule is out, and even though most of our old Big East rivals are gone, it actually still looks pretty good when you see it laid out on paper. Obviously we'll go more in depth once the season gets closer, but here are a few quick thoughts after taking a quick glance at the schedule.

1. All of UConn's games from New Years Eve onwards will be nationally televised, which is awesome.

2. The non-conference schedule is rock solid, which should more than make up for the somewhat weaker American Conference schedule. Before the New Year UConn will have already played Maryland, Florida, Stanford, Washington and possibly Indiana, plus the long overdue matchup against our old friends at BC.

3. While we don't know whether the split between Gampel Pavilion and off-campus games will be favorable, we do know that at least one huge matchup will be contested on campus when Louisville comes to Storrs on Saturday, Jan. 18. That one is a must see, and I can only imagine how jacked up the crowd is going to be for it.

4. UConn also ends its regular season on the road against Louisville in what could turn out to be a de facto regular season championship matchup. The fact that the game will also be on CBS should make for a nice March Madness feel too.

The full schedule is as follows, and feel free to draw your own conclusions in the comments below. Update: The school has released the team's home schedule, so we've updated our schedule accordingly.
