Gameday Preview: UConn at SMU

The Huskies still strive for their first win in game no. 9 of 2013 against Garrett Gilbert and the SMU Mustangs.

Ronald Martinez

Welcome to the dawn of the Casey Cochran era.

Maybe.

The redhsirt freshman out of Monroe, C.T. will become the third Husky to start under center for UConn this season. He's been lauded by interim coach T.J. Weist for his smarts, decision-making and work ethic. We'll see how that translates onto the field.

On the other side of the ball, the Husky defense will look to continue its strong efforts against no. 20 Louisville by holding down the no. 1 man in the country when it comes to individual offense—SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert. Gilbert accounts for over 405 yards of offense per game all on his own and is a one-man wrecking ball. The Mustangs are 3-5 this season after a tough non-conference schedule and crazy, 55-51 triple-overtime loss to Rutgers at home.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
