There was some great news for UConn baseball last night, as the Texas Rangers decided to call up 3B Mike Olt from the AA Frisco Rough Riders. Olt, who helped led UConn to a College World Series super regional in 2010 was drafted by the Rangers in the first round of that year's draft. His name popped up in a lot of trade chatter earlier this week as Major League Baseball's trade deadline approached but the Rangers decided to hang on to him. He is considered one of the best power hitters in the Ranger's system and one of the best defensive third basemen in the minors.
