UConn-Notre Dame Rivalry Heats Up - Courant.com
After Notre Dame beat the Huskies last April in the Final Four, according to the source, Irish senior forward Becca Bruszewski opened the door to the UConn locker room in Indianapolis and yelled six departing words. "It must suck to be you." Our John Altavilla and Mike DiMauro of the New London Day reported it. Doris Burke said it on ESPN during No. 4 UConn's 72-59 loss to No. 3 Notre Dame Monday night at the XL Center. UConn players publicly have denied knowing anything about it. And it will be interesting to watch the narrative unravel in the coming weeks. But this much is sure. When stuff like that leaks out, the stage is set for some good ol' hate.

For the first time in its history, No. 3 Notre Dame is the Big East regular-season champion after completing a season-sweep of the Huskies.

His coaching status moving forward will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Brian Blaney told a Providence radio station on Monday that it "won’t be fun" having to go up against his father tonight, and George echoed those sentiments following UConn’s practice.

"It should be the goal of every assistant coach to do your job somewhere and one day, have the opportunity to run your own program," LaFleur said. "This seemed like an opportunity to do that someday." Popular opinion was that LaFleur felt eclipsed by Ollie, the first-year assistant coach who drew raves for his recruiting and inspirational leadership with last year's team. LaFleur insists that's not the case.
