Big East Football Power Rankings Week Seven

Welcome back to the Big East Football Power Rankings. Every week the editors of SB Nation's Big East blogs will cast their vote in an attempt to measure the current state of the Big East. The results are below.

This column gets more depressing to write every week.

This week our writers confirmed what we've all known since week two: there are three "real" teams in this league and five teams that are really just waiting for the season to end, even if they won't admit it yet. Cincinnati and Rutgers both had impressive showings this week, allowing them to tie Louisville for the number one spot (the Cardinals had a bye), though the Bearcats get a slight edge for collecting the most first-place votes.

Our biggest movers of the week were Syracuse and Temple, who each jumped three spots -- to four and five, respectively -- thanks to wins over Pitt and South Florida. The rise of the Orange meant Pitt slipped back a slot, but the voters weren't too tough on them.

The same cannot be said for South Florida though, who the voters punished by dropping them to eighth -- though they probably deserved it, they lost to Temple after all. And finally there is UConn, who was only spared the basement by the misfortune of the Bulls. We'll see you back here next week.
