Big East Football Power Rankings Week Eight

Welcome back to the Big East Football Power Rankings. Every week the editors of SB Nation's Big East blogs will cast their vote in an attempt to measure the current state of the Big East. The results are below.

We're into the heart of Big East play now (except for Cincinnati, who apparently took September off and is now opting to play a traditional September schedule in October) and while that would typically mean we'd get some clarity in the powerrankings, this is the Big East we're talking about. We don't have a three-way tie at the top like last week (Louisville's win over Pitt apparently broke the logjam), but the trio of Louisville, Cincinnati and Rutgers all received at least one first place vote and none of the three were voted lower than third.

The middle of the league is just as confusing as a schizophrenic Pitt squad, a probably-but-not-definitely-better-than-its-record Syracuse crew and the always baffling Temple are jostling for position.

And then we have the bottom of the league, where USF and UConn are locked in a battle to the death to prove who's worth. What's worse? Decisively losing to Temple on the road (like USF) or blowing a lead at home UConn-style. Which coach deserves to be fired more, Skip Holtz or Paul Pasqualoni? Which blog can have the more vitriolic meltdown each week? It seems like it should be too close to call, and it nearly was, with USF edging out UConn for the last spot by a mere 2 points. Congrats on your futility guys.
