TheRoundUp 1/26: Women roll Syracuse

Hayes leads UConn women past Syracuse 95-54 - Boston.com
Hayes was 11 of 15 from the floor, 7 of 7 from the free-throw line, matched her career high with six 3-pointers in eight tries, and had seven rebounds. "She's really in a good place right now -- physically, mentally," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. "Tonight was probably a perfect example of all the things Tiffany can do on any given night. She used to have nights like this when she was a freshman, but since then she's struggled a little bit to find herself, find her game. Tonight was kind of, `Here I am, this is what I do. I'm a senior.'

UConn freshman DeAndre Daniels not having the year he'd envisioned- The Register Citizen
Long after the sellout crowd had departed and another unproductive night for Daniels was in the books, the UConn freshman was the last man in the gym, hoisting up jumpers and lending credence to his high school coach’s assertion that Daniels worked "harder than anyone I’ve ever coached." "It’s an experience for me," Daniels said after going scoreless in six minutes of play. "I’m just trying to get better each and every day, just keep working harder and keeping my head up and going from there."

UConn pulls one from The Hun School - On The Trail Blog - ESPN (Insider)
Post-graduate inside linebacker Wyatt Vinci (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School) has given the Huskies his commitment, multiple sources report. He was in Storrs, Conn. last weekend for an official visit.

Season grade: UConn - Big East Blog - ESPN
You have to say UConn took a step back because it finished with a losing record for the first time since 2006. A transition to a new head coach and new schemes on offense and defense meant an expected rough patch. Factor in no development or improvement at quarterback, and you get a 5-7 record. The Huskies were close in several early games against Iowa State, Vanderbilt and Western Michigan. Wins in any of those would have gotten them back to a bowl game. But they blew fourth quarter leads in each and only beat one team with a winning record this season. To me, a .500 season equates a C, so the Huskies have to drop a notch below that. Grade: D.
