TheSeniorDayOpenThread: Notre Dame (24-5, 13-4) at UConn (21-8, 9-8)

Ah, Senior Day...your yearly reminder that college basketball is always swiftly moving onward, and that each era is fleeting.

Junior Kemba Walker (along with actual seniors Charles Okwandu and Donnell Beverly) will be honored prior to today's 2 p.m. tip with Notre Dame, because 1) he's reportedly on track to graduate in three years and 2) there ain't no way he's coming back, given that he's a probable first-round pick in a weak draft.

I have plenty to say about Kemba, but I'll save that for another time. Today is a day of merely thanking Kemba, Okwandu and Beverly (and the walk-ons and managers) for their hard work and for entertaining us (in various ways) with their contributions to the program.

It's also a day that's kind of important on the court. UConn needs a win and probably something else to happen (it's really, really complicated) to avoid playing DePaul in a no-win situation in front of 6,500 disinterested onlookers at Madison Square Garden.

UConn fell to Notre Dame, 73-70, back in early January when we thought UConn was a legit top 10 team. Oh, youth.

Today's game is at Gampel, in front of what should be a boisterous crowd. If you're not there, you can watch the game on ESPN, and you can join in TheOpenThread discussion right here.

Let's Go Huskies.
