The UConn coaching staff tried throughout the spring and summer to get McCummings able to play this season. The athletic gifts are there, but the footwork, fundamentals and the accuracy aren’t. Teammates Johnny McEntee and Michael Nebrich flat out beat him out in head-to-head competition and McCummings was relegated to the bench. Let’s make one things clear about McCummings: the athleticism he possesses is too important to keep off the field. Pasqualoni said Monday that McCummings would have his usual set of plays the next time UConn takes the field -- Nov. 19 against Louisville. How many carries he gets just depends on how effective he is running.

That leaves us with ... well, very little, unfortunately. UConn fans are no doubt much less interested in the vagaries of the actual investigation than they are its outcome; any extended absence from Boatright could stretch Connecticut's backcourt, forcing Shabazz Napier to play long minutes or forcing coach Jim Calhoun to hope one of his walk-ons can fill in. But whatever the investigation is about, it doesn't seem likely to keep Boatright out for anything more than a couple of weeks.

According to a UConn spokesman Tuesday morning. Doty, the redshirt junior guard, will not play in Wednesday night's preseason game against Pace at the XL Center because of the sprained left ankle she suffered 10 days ago.

UConn Women To Announce Series With Oregon -
The UConn women's basketball program has reached a new agreement to play Oregon in a home-and-away series that will start with a game Dec. 31, 2012 in Eugene.
