TheOpenThread: Cincinnati at UConn

Last time Cincinnati played UConn, a referee-type named John Cahill made a pretty iffy call in the final seconds that appeared to have swung the game. I wonder what happened to that guy?

Anyway, the Bearcats (14-9, 5-6) and Huskies are both desperate for a win in today's meeting at The Morgue in Hartford (noon, MyTV9/SNY/Big East Network). A loss by UConn would drop them to an unthinkable 4-8 in the Big East, while a UConn win would at least make Monday's game at Villanova interesting, from a "hey-if-we-win-this-maybe..." standpoint.

Cincinnati's lost three of four, including getting their doors blown off by Syracuse in the final eight minutes last Sunday. The last time Cincinnati traveled up to Connecticut, a decent UConn team inexplicably won by 45 against a decent Cincinnati team at Gampel. I expect this one will be a little closer.

Of course, this is Coach Cal's return and frankly, if UConn doesn't win by 90, then he's a terrible coach and we'll all want Blaney back. Agreed? (Just kidding. Thank Cal he's back.)

Join TheOpenThread right this very instant, and we'll all pretend UConn still has a chance at the NCAA Tournament for at least another couple of hours.
