The Day - Young UConn focuses on improvement
UConn (1-0) is back in the gym tonight, hosting Vermont (1-0) at 7 at the XL Center in Hartford. The ongoing goal for the young Huskies is to continue to improve every practice and every game.

Threes Aren't Falling For Huskies -
Shot selection has been decent. Confidence among newcomers given the green light has been even better. The results? "The only thing is, we'd like to start seeing them go in," Calhoun said Tuesday before practice at Gampel Pavilion. "That's the purpose of taking them."

But Tuesday, the Huskies really were threatened. They were on the ropes. They had to rally and keep their cool in some tense situations. They had to make big offensive rebounds and nail clutch shots. They had to do all that with three freshmen getting significant playing time.

Griner had 19 points and nine blocked shots, but only seven rebounds, one on offense. UConn had a 17-6 edge on the offensive boards. Giving so many fouls didn't hurt the Huskies; Griner was only 5-for-13 from the line, 1-for-8 in the second half.
