Dan O. to start for Lions?

Dan Orlovsky may start for the Detroit Lions Saturday. Amen.

According to an article in Thursday's Detroit Free Press, the patron saint of UConn football may be in line for his first career NFL start at the Minnesota Vikings (1 p.m.). Last week against the Chicago Bears, Dan Orlovsky filled in for regular Detroit starter Jon Kitna (back) and finished with a line of 13-for-23, 97 yards, 0 TDs, 1 Int.

In his fifth season since leading the Huskies to its first Bowl game and parting the red sea, Dan O. is likely to get the start over third-stringer Drew Stanton if Kitna can't go.

A fifth-round selection, Dan O. has appeared in five games, mostly in mop-up duty, over his career but never threw more than 11 passes in a game before last week.
