The Morning After: Napier, Daniels Selected in NBA Draft

Ronald Martinez

Huskies fans were beaming with pride as Shabazz Napier and DeAndre Daniels heard their names called in last night's NBA Draft. Senior hopeful Niels Giffey went undrafted.

It was an up and down night for Huskies fans. We thought Shabazz might get an early call, he ended up being the last player left in the green room. We thought for a fiery hot minute that he'd be teaming up with Kemba Walker but that ain't happening either.

Then the second round was underway and to our delight the wait was not very long for DeAndre Daniels. He'll be in a good position with an up and coming Raptors team. Unfortunately Niels Fucking Giffey went undrafted, but he reportedly has a Summer League gig lined up already.

A lot of the Shabazz commentary, understandably, focused on the impact this will have on Miami's chances of retaining LeBron James-- who is expected to opt out of his contract. James has expressed favor towards 'Bazz on multiple occasions including last night when after the trade news broke out the superstar tweeted that Napier was his favorite player in the draft. High praise from the best living basketball player in the world.

Some of us may hate the Heat (I don't), especially any Celtics fans out there. But, if James does return to Miami, this is a good situation for Shabazz. Teaming up with fellow UConn great Ray Allen would be an added bonus. Allen has yet to make an official decision on his one-year option.

DeAndre Daniels

2014 NBA Draft: Raptors Select DeAndre Daniels With 37th Pick - Raptors HQ

Most of the Raptors draft day articles were focused on the surprising, unknown Brazilian who they picked at 20th overall. It was interesting to see disapproval ringing from the SB Nation Raptors hub, Raptors HQ. Clearly they don't understand the kind of talent they just acquired.

Niels Giffey

Unfortunately, though not unsurprisingly, Niels Giffey went undrafted last night. It would have been wonderful to see him taken with that last overall pick to the San Antonio Spurs. Ultimately the difference in his chances of making it in as an undrafted player versus the end of the second round aren't very significant. Giffey will be playing in the NBA Summer League this year for the Memphis Grizzlies.

GO HUSKIES!!!
