Two Canadian Linemen Join the Huskies

Trey Rutherford OT 6’5" 290 King City, Ontario,Canada Kent School 2 (Rivals/3 ESPN) Stars

Outside of UConn, the Canadian tackle was only heavily recruited by the University of Minnesota. ESPN says that Rutherford has great size, good arm length, and nimble feet for pass protection as he can play both tackle positions. He also has good explosion in run blocking. ESPN says he has that "nasty" factor that analysts love to talk about.

Rutherford has good long term upside, and could greatly benefit from a redshirt season to work on technical skills. This could be another diamond in the rough signing by Diaco, as CanadaFootballChat.com ranked Rutherford as the top Canadian lineman prospect in the 2014 signing class.

He was quoted as saying, "Coach Diaco is changing the program around completely, and I wanted to be part of the success.

Lawley became the first player from Moutat Secondary, his high school in British Columbia, to receive an FBS scholarship. After Moutat, he spent one year at Lawrenceville Prep in Lawrenceville, N.J. where he was named to the Newark Star Ledger All-Prep Team. Lawley will join Lawrenceville teammate, DB Anthony Watkins in Storrs.
