UConn Finalizes Men's Basketball Home Schedule

Andy Lyons

The Huskies will play 10 games on campus, including marquee matchups against Florida and Louisville

Today UConn released its finalized home schedule for the upcoming men's basketball season, and besides the fact that the school continues to host half of its home games away from campus, there is a lot to be excited about.

The Huskies will play 10 games at Gampel Pavilion, nine games at the XL Center in Hartford and one game at a location to be determined, most likely at Bridgeport's Webster Bank Arena but possibly at Mohegan Sun. Notably, UConn will play two of its biggest home games against Florida and Louisville at Gampel Pavilion, with the latter coming as part of an ESPN College GameDay doubleheader. That is huge, and if things go the way we hope, the atmosphere at both games should be outstanding.

The highlight of the XL Center schedule figures to be UConn's Feb. 15 tilt against Memphis, although the games against Stanford, Temple and Cincinnati should be solid too despite the moribund venue. The fact that UConn's one other non-Hartford off-campus game is against Eastern Washington over winter break is also a huge plus, although it remains to be seen whether Mohegan Sun and Bridgeport try to steal more home games in the future.
