Tim Boyle to UConn: Middletown QB decommits from BC to become a Husky

A coaching change in Boston led the three-star QB to look for a different home, and he found one in Storrs.

Steve Addazio may have stolen Don Brown from UConn when he got hired at Boston College, but his preference for running quarterbacks mean the Huskies got something in return: a commitment from three-star Xavier quarterback Tim Boyle. Boyle committed to BC back in June, but reopened his recruitment in recent weeks after Addazio signaled to him that he wouldn't be a good fit for BC's offense going forward.

Boyle still considered BC, as well as Pitt, but ultimately opted to stay in Connecticut, where he has won three straight Class L titles and was named the state player of the year last year.

Boyle is going to join Chandler Whitmer, redshirt-freshman Casey Cochran and incoming Texas freshman Richard Lagow in a suddenly young and talented UConn backfield. Based on potential and recruiting hype alone those are UConn's four best quarterbacks since Dan Orlovsky. Potential is a finicky thing, so who knows who, if anyone will provide a serious threat to Whitmer this year or next, but there's certainly going to be a battle for room on the depth chart in Storrs.
