The eight-team field features perennial champion UConn and highly-ranked Ohio State. The Huskies and the Buckeyes will each host three teams on their campuses in late November of next year, each team playing three games before heading to the MassMutual Center for a quadruple header.

On the downside UConn (1-0) saw two players go down with injuries after Devin Prendergast rolled an ankle in the second and red-shirt freshman defender Gabriella Cuevas suffered a left knee injury with just under three minutes left to play. Prendergast’s ankle looks to be day to day but Cuevas, who was lost for the 2011 season after an ACL tear seven minutes into UConn’s opener last year, may be facing a similar fate his season.
