Jim Calhoun taking indefinite medical leave of absence

UConn head coach Jim Calhoun is taking an indefinite leave of medical absence, the school announced today. The leave, which is effective immediately, is to deal with spinal stenosis, a condition that causes severe pain and limits mobility. Calhoun will definitely not coach the team against Seton Hall on Saturday or Monday when they head to Louisville. Associate head coach George Blaney will take over in his absence. The Huskies went 2-1 under Blaney earlier this season.

We have officially entered “the team is so bad it makes Calhoun physically I’ll” territory. At least last time this happened, we beat the #3 team in the country (Nova).
I’ll call it a wash if we do that next week…

No, you’re right. I conflated the two…I was just thinking about the end of the season where we turned suddenly good for like a week.

I dislike blaney’s style. I think they should hand the reigns to Ollie or someone who needs the experience. It’s not like they can do much harm to the season…
